When I was sitting in the middle of the hardest season of my life — lupus, kidney failure, caregiving for my mother after her stroke, watching the career I had built quietly come apart at the seams — I was not thinking about a brand name. I was thinking about survival.

I had spent fifteen years in banking. Started as a teller. Worked my way to Assistant Manager and ended my career as a Personal Banker II. I knew loan documents before I knew what I was building. I left banking to care for my mother. And when I came back — really came back — I came back as a real estate agent with a platform, a community, and a plan that had been forming longer than I had words for it.

So when it was time to name the thing I was building, I needed something that told the truth.

Moraea. A flower that blooms in harsh conditions.

That is the whole story in one word.

But here is what the name does not tell you.

It does not tell you that I looked around at the groups, the events, the networks being built in this community — and I noticed something. The representation was not there. Not for women who look like me. Not for the women I kept meeting who were building real things, running real businesses, buying real estate, showing up every single day — and still somehow could not find a room that felt like it was made for them.

I was not trying to be a diversity initiative. I was trying to solve a problem I personally lived.

And I needed to work. That is the honest version. I had a platform. I had the concepts. I had women in my community who trusted me. I was not going to let all of that sit on a shelf while I waited for the right moment.

There is no right moment. There is just the decision to go.

So I built Moraea Co.

Not a real estate agency. An ecosystem. A real estate practice, a community network, a notary service, a blog that features the businesses worth knowing, and eventually — a physical room where all of it lives under one roof.
